A warm hello to old friends, colleagues, visitors and new Yeovilians that I have yet to meet. Being a councillor and becoming Mayor is more than I could have foreseen for myself. I am hardworking, down to earth, have a great sense of humour and am simply known as: - ‘Just Evie’
I pride myself that I am ‘grass roots’ and feel honoured that I have been voted in as your Mayor. I am a working single mother. Both my children have flown the nest, but I do have several foster children that I am devoted to. I like to think that my life experiences can help me to be more approachable and more effective.
I acknowledge the role of social media and digital transformation in the modern world. I believe that, as a Town Council, we need to harness this and use various platforms more effectively and profusely, to reach all constituents.
I am determined that my reign as Mayor of Yeovil will be significant and begin new relationships between the Town Council and those we are elected to serve. No one should feel alone or desperate in these difficult times. My chosen charities I will be supporting for the coming year are evidence of my passionate nature and determination to effect change.
I look forward to engaging with the wider community, whether that be online or in person. Together we can build a community that encompasses all sections of society. Financial, social or health status should not encumber any Yeovilian in connecting with the Town Council or starting a dialogue with us.
As a country, we have been isolated and resilient in our efforts to contain the pandemic. Yeovil has demonstrated impressive discipline in taking measures during this trying time, as a result, we are now on the precipice of our community being reunited.

I shall not underestimate the challenge ahead in reigniting Yeovil and bridging the gaps we have within our community. I cannot promise not to make mistakes, but I can promise to try with all I have.
