ANNUAL TOWN CRIERS COMPETITION
SATURDAY 23 APRIL 2022
On Saturday, 23rd April 2022, Fifteen Town Criers from the South and West plus other parts of the country will arrive in Yeovil to test their vocal cords on the Citizens of Yeovil.
The competitors will assemble at the Town House to be welcomed by her Worship, the Mayor of Yeovil. The Draw and Judges Briefing will then take place. At 10.00 a.m. they will parade with the Mayor leading to King George Street. The competition will then commence following an Opening Cry from Bruce Trigger, the Yeovil Town Crier.
During the programme, each competitor will be performing a Cry based on his or her own Home Town. The Criers will return to perform a Cry incorporating St Georges Day. The judges' scores will then be assessed.
The Competition will close at approximately 1.00pm with a Closing Cry by Bruce Trigger.
The announcement of the results will be made at Yeovil Town Council prior to prize giving. Prizes will be awarded for the overall winner, the first and second Runners-Up, the Best Dressed Crier, Best Dressed Couple and Best Dressed Escort, these will be released to the press the following week.
